Senator Yari leads APC PCC delegation to the Oba of Lagos

Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari led an APC Presidential Campaign Council delegation to Lagos on 14 September 2026, where Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu joined the party leaders for an audience with the Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty, Oba Riliwanu Osuolale Babatunde Akiolu, at Iga Idunganran.

The visit formed part of nationwide consultations for the Tinubu 2027 project. The delegation paid homage to the traditional ruler and sought his blessings, guidance and counsel as the council continued its national political assignment.

A welcome in Lagos

Governor Sanwo-Olu received the Director-General and the visiting delegation before joining the palace engagement. The gathering brought national campaign leadership into conversation with Lagos’s political and traditional institutions.

For Senator Yari, the visit was part of the responsibilities entrusted to him as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council. It connected the council’s national coordination work with direct engagement in Lagos and the relationships that shape public life in the state.

He also expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership and reforms, presenting the President’s record as an inspiration for the movement’s ambitions for Nigeria. These were the Governor’s political remarks during his account of the engagement.

“Lagos is the heartbeat of this movement and the support of our traditional institutions gives us the strength to keep pushing forward.”

The Governor’s statement placed Lagos within the council’s national consultation programme while emphasising the importance he attached to relationships with traditional institutions.

Senator Yari’s role as council Director-General sits alongside his elected mandate as Senator representing Zamfara West. The Lagos engagement belongs to the campaign-council chapter of his public responsibilities and follows earlier service as Governor of Zamfara State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.
