OFFICE POLICIES
Privacy Notice
Clear information about using this website and engaging with the office.
Last updated 17 September 2026
This notice explains how the Office of Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar handles information submitted through this website. It covers public enquiries, community reports, subscriptions, applications and the information needed to operate the platform. Please read it before sending personal information, particularly if your message concerns another person.
Who this notice covers
The website provides information about Senator Yari and a way to contact the office. Visitors can read public material without creating an account. Some services require contact details so that an enquiry can be recorded, an application considered or a response sent. Administrative accounts are intended for authorised office personnel and have separate access controls.
This notice applies to information handled through this platform. A link to another organisation does not bring that organisation’s website within this notice. Review its own privacy information before providing data or opening an account there. An enquiry about a government agency may eventually require a separate interaction with that agency.
Information you choose to provide
An enquiry may include your name, email address, telephone number, subject and message. A community report may also include its category, location, photographs, videos or supporting documents. Volunteer and opportunity forms may request information relevant to the particular opportunity. The fields on the form identify what is required for that submission.
A newsletter subscription records your email address, optional name, consent and subscription status. You do not need to subscribe to read the website or contact the office. Please provide an address you control and do not subscribe somebody else without their permission.
Avoid sending passwords, payment-card details, banking credentials, complete identity documents, medical records or other sensitive material through a general enquiry. If supporting evidence is needed, send only the relevant part and remove unrelated personal information where possible. Contact the office first if you are unsure whether a document should be submitted.
Technical and service information
The service may process an internet address, request time, browser information and records of system activity to maintain security and diagnose faults. These details can help identify repeated failed requests, abusive submissions and problems with file delivery. They are not a substitute for information you choose to include in a form.
Administrative activity can generate audit records, including the account performing an action and the resource affected. Access to office functions is restricted by role. Public visitors do not receive access to private reports, application attachments or administrative records through the public content library.
Why information is used
Information is used to receive and organise correspondence, understand the issue raised, contact the sender, assess a relevant application, administer an event or programme, and maintain records of the office’s work. An enquiry may be assigned to an appropriate member of the team. Where a matter needs another organisation’s attention, the office may explain a referral or ask for further information.
Subscription information is used to provide the updates you requested and maintain your communication preferences. Operational information is used to protect the service, manage access and investigate errors. The appropriate legal basis depends on the particular purpose and the information involved; consent is used for the optional email updates described on the subscription form.
We do not describe an ordinary enquiry as consent to unrelated marketing. Providing a telephone number for a response does not, by itself, mean you have requested every available communication channel. You can ask the office how your information is being used in a particular interaction.
Sharing and service providers
Authorised personnel may access information where it is relevant to their responsibilities. Hosting, secure file storage, message delivery and other technical services may process information needed to support the platform. Access should be limited to the service being provided and subject to suitable safeguards.
A referral, lawful request or obligation may require information to be shared with a relevant institution. The office should consider the purpose, sensitivity and amount of information before sharing it. Contacting the office does not automatically make your message, name or attachments public. Public publication is a separate decision, particularly where a submission identifies an individual or a vulnerable person.
Storage, security and retention
The platform uses account permissions and controlled media access to separate public publications from private submissions. Security also depends on operational practices, appropriate credentials and the systems used to deliver the service. No website can guarantee that every transmission or storage system will be free from risk.
Records should be retained only for as long as they remain necessary for their purpose or another applicable requirement. The appropriate period can differ between an open enquiry, a closed application, a subscription preference and a security audit. Deleting a visible record may not immediately remove every backup or legally retained record. You can ask about the information associated with your particular interaction.
Information about other people
If you submit information about somebody else, explain your relationship to the matter and provide only what is relevant. Do not upload personal documents simply because they are available to you. Where permission is appropriate, obtain it before sharing the material.
Take particular care with children’s information, health details, allegations and material that could expose somebody to harm. An urgent safety concern should be directed to the appropriate emergency or safeguarding service. The website is not an emergency response channel and should not be used as the only way to seek urgent assistance.
Your choices and rights
Under applicable Nigerian data-protection law, individuals may have rights concerning access, correction, deletion, objection, restriction, portability and the withdrawal of consent. The availability of a particular right depends on the circumstances and any lawful exceptions. A request will need to be assessed against the purpose for which the information is held.
To make a request, contact the office and describe the information or interaction concerned. The team may need proportionate information to confirm your identity or authority before disclosing a record. Do not send a full identity document unless it is specifically needed and an appropriate submission method has been arranged.
You may also raise a concern with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. Contacting the office first can help clarify what happened, but this notice does not remove any right to approach the relevant supervisory authority.
Email updates and unsubscribing
You can withdraw consent to optional email updates through the unsubscribe facility in a message or by contacting the office. A preference record may need to be retained so that a withdrawal continues to be respected. Essential replies to an enquiry or a matter you are actively handling may be different from an optional newsletter.
Unsubscribing does not remove public access to the website and is not a condition for receiving general information from the office. If an address is shared by several people, consider whether it is appropriate for personal correspondence before using it.
Cookies and external services
Essential service features may use cookies or browser storage. Optional analytics and embedded media can involve additional services when enabled. The Cookies Notice explains the types of features that may be involved and the choices available. Blocking a necessary cookie may affect sign-in, uploads or other functions that rely on a secure session.
Questions and changes
Use the contact page to raise a privacy question or request help with a submission. Include enough information to locate the interaction, such as its date or reference, while avoiding unnecessary sensitive information. Policies may be updated as services change. The version date on this page identifies the current published notice.
