Senator Abdulaziz Yari led members of the presidential campaign council to the palace of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu joined the delegation for the engagement in September 2026.
Seeking counsel
Yari explained that the council was seeking prayers, guidance and advice before nationwide campaign activities. The visit followed consultations with other traditional institutions.
Advice from the palace
The Oba expressed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu while urging political actors to protect peace and act honestly. He cautioned against conduct that could undermine stability during the election period.
Engagement with Lagos leaders
Sanwo-Olu spoke about the importance of consultation with the traditional institution. Party stakeholders, legislators and local government leaders also participated.
