Senator Abdulaziz Yari led a delegation to the palace of the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, seeking counsel and prayers ahead of campaign activities.
A visit to the Sultan
During the September 2026 engagement, Yari spoke about the importance of advice from the traditional institution. Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu received the delegation.
Yari said the council intended to conduct a peaceful campaign focused on public issues.
Counsel on peace and unity
The Sultan urged political actors to promote national unity, respect voters’ decisions and avoid turning insecurity into a divisive campaign instrument. He encouraged citizens to assess political promises and the public records of those seeking office.
