In Gusau, Senator Yari sets out an issue-based approach to the campaign

Senator Abdulaziz Yari met Governor Dauda Lawal, traditional rulers and political stakeholders in Gusau in September 2026. Speaking after the meeting, he described an issue-based approach to the presidential campaign, centred on presenting the administration’s record rather than attacking opponents personally.

The engagement followed his appointment as director-general of the presidential campaign council. Yari sought counsel and prayers from the traditional rulers as preparations continued.

Governor Lawal explained that the gathering introduced Yari to the traditional rulers in his campaign role. His remarks emphasised unity and peaceful conduct before, during and after the election.

The national assignment

The engagement formed part of Senator Yari’s work as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council. His consultations bring the campaign organisation into direct conversation with traditional institutions and community leaders.

The role follows earlier service as Governor of Zamfara State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, and sits alongside his present mandate as Senator representing Zamfara West.
